Company Profile

Dipl.-Phys. Klaus Rohlffs studied philosophy, mathematics and physics at the universities of Hamburg and Freiburg from 1991 to 1997. He wrote his diploma thesis on predictive control and the revolving solar house "Heliotrop" by architect Rolf Disch at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg. From 1998 to 2001, he worked as a research fellow at the Building Science Group (fbta) at KIT in Karlsruhe. In 1999 he founded the ip5 engineering partnership together with four colleagues.

ip5 GmbH was founded in 2015 to continue the successful work of the ip5 engineering partnership in the following areas:

  • Transient thermal simulation calculations to determine the thermal and energy-related behaviour of buildings

  • Preparation and continuous adjustment of the achievable CO2 and primary energy balances of buildings during the planning process
  • Preparation and continuous adjustment of a set of energy and comfort related target values during the planning process to ensure the implementation of the initial concept
  • Calculations concerning the energy demand of buildings, both during the planning process and construction
  • During the planning process and construction: advice on resource-conserving energy design solutions for buildings with outstanding user comfort
  • Examination of existing energy design solutions
  • Support concerning energy design related requirements in tender documents
  • Support concerning energy design related requirements in competition announcements
  • Advice concerning energy design related requirements in competitions
